News: New route planner in Elton!

Finally, we can share what we’ve been working on lately: a brand-new route planner! Now it’s even easier for you to navigate with Elton and choose the stops you want along the way 🗺️ Read on to learn more, or try it yourself if you already have Elton installed.

You’ll find the route planner directly in the map

First of all, thank you for all the great feedback we’ve received about the app — especially about the route planner! We’ve wanted to improve it for a long time, and thanks to everyone who shared their experiences, we found what we believe is the best solution.

We removed two tabs in the app: Stations and Travel. Several users felt that “Stations” didn’t really solve anything that wasn’t already covered by the charging screen. It was also a bit inconvenient that the route planner was located outside the map. That’s why you now find the route planner directly in the map.

How to use the new route planner:

• Tap the charging stop you want on the map, or search for a destination in the “plan route to” field.

• Tap where it says “route.” This takes you directly into the route planner.

• The route planner automatically adds “my position” as the starting point. You can easily change the starting point and destination, add stops along the way, and much more!

Better options

Once you’ve selected a route, you can add how much battery you have before you start driving and how much you want when you arrive. In addition, you can choose what kind of stops you want, such as cafés or similar, and whether you want to avoid toll roads. We simply want to give you more relevant options while making it easier to get where you’re going.

A word from developer Nicolas

Nicolas has been with Elton since the beginning in 2020 — in fact, he’s one of the founders! He’s an experienced developer who constantly works on improving the app. He hopes the new route planner will be well received, and he’ll spend the next few weeks making sure it works exactly as it should, every time.

For us, the most important thing is that the app is always easy to use, no matter who you are or where you are. We received a lot of great feedback about the route planner, and we thought carefully about whether we should change it — and if so, how. I hope it will be easier to use and feel more aligned with how people actually plan long journeys.
