What does it cost to charge with Elton?

One of the most frequently asked questions among electric vehicle (EV) owners is, "What will it cost to charge my car away from home?" While it's widely known that charging an EV is generally cheaper than refueling with fossil fuels, understanding how to make informed choices regarding charging prices can still be a challenge. In this article, we will provide you with some valuable tips to simplify the charging process on the road.

  This is how you can avoid charging queues with Elton

  Tired of waiting? Elton launches a feature that shows the estimated queue and waiting time at charging stations right now, and the expected availability at different times. This way you can choose stations and times to avoid queues.

Frequently asked questions

• How do I charge with Elton?+

  It's easy to charge with Elton. This is how you do it:
  
  Connect the car to the charger Some cars have an adapter and can charge with more inputs than standard. Your car dealership should inform you of this situation.
  
  Hit "Charge" in the Elton app. The button is located at the bottom of the app. You will also see this button if you have selected a charging station in the map or in the route planner.
  
  Scan the QR-code on the charger. You'll find this close to the output of the charger. Some chargers have several outputs, so make sure you scan the code matching the output to which your car is connected. You can also hit "Use charger number" to manually enter the charger's EVSE code.
  
  Start charging Choose payment option and hit "Start charging". It might take a few second for the charging session to start
  
  End charging in app To end a charging session, hit "Stop charging". Some cars requires you to also end the session from inside the car. If you're not able to disconnect the cable from you car after your session is complete, it's most likely because you need to end the session manually in the car as well.
  
  Receive the receipt All receipts and your charging history is found in "Purchases", which is located in the "Profile" section.
  
  Elton does not support Plug & Charge as of now. All charging sessions must be started in the app.

• Where can I charge?+

  With Elton you can charge at all charging stations run by operators we have a commercial partnership with. As of today, we have a partnership with Allego, Circle K, Clever, Eon, EVbox, Ionity, KLataus, Kople, Supercharge, Monta, OKQ8, Poche, Powered by Eon & Clever, Ragde Charge, Recharge, Spirii and Virta. We are continually working on entering new partnerships, and hope to offer as many charging stations as possible in the future!
  
  You can at all times see information and receive price estimates at all charging stations – no matter if we have a commercial partnership or not

• Do I need a RFID chip?+

  You don't need to use an RFID chip when charging your car with Elton. Neither does Elton have a chip you can order.
  
  "Can I register other RFID chips in Elton?" No. We want to provide a digital and simple charging experience. Therefore, you don't need to register physical chips in the app to charge your car.

• What does it cost?+

  Charging prices depend on charging point operator, charging station and speed. When you scan a charger in Elton, you will see the price of the specific charger.
  
  When you initiate a charging session, Elton will make a reservation of 70 NOK if you pay by card and 500 NOK if you pay by Vipps. When charging is complete, we will adjust the amount to what is actually owed, and release the rest to you. If you pay by card we wil release the correct amount within 24 hours. It can take up to seven days until you see the correct amount in your account, depending on your bank.
