# About us

Elton started with a simple goal: to make EV charging easier. Here you can read about how we build the product, how we work and the journey that has taken Elton from an idea to a Nordic charging app.

## How we build Elton

### 01
Start with a problem worth solving

Elton started with a simple observation: EV charging was more complicated than it needed to be.

That’s why we bring what you need on the road into one app. Find chargers, plan your route, check availability, start charging and pay – across many charging operators in the Nordics.

The goal is still the same as when we started: less hassle, easier charging.

### 02
Build, test and learn along the way

We like getting good ideas out into the world quickly.

Instead of waiting for the perfect solution, we build, test, listen to users and adjust. Sometimes we get it right straight away. Other times we learn something and make it better next time.

We have a lot of trust in the team’s expertise. You get to own the problems you work on, challenge existing solutions and use your experience to find the best way forward.

### 03
Build it with good people

Elton is still a relatively small team, and we like it that way.

Different disciplines, experiences and backgrounds work closely together around the same goal: making EV charging easier.

We believe good products get better when people are trusted to think for themselves, help each other and have fun along the way.

## From an idea to a Nordic charging app

### May 2020: Hello world!

We saw how difficult it was to get a clear overview of available chargers, prices and how charging actually worked across different operators.

In five weeks, we built the first version of Elton: a charging map with charger information, pricing and route planning.

### November 2020: From charging map to charging

After a few months, it was clear that people liked what we had built. But we were only helping them get to the charger – not with what happened next.

The next step was obvious: make it possible to start, stop and pay for charging directly in Elton.

### January 2021: Pay for charging in Elton

We launched charging payments with Recharge, Kople and Ionity in Norway.

At the same time, Elton became the first charging app to let users pay for public charging with Vipps.

### March 2021: When your car and Elton work together

We added support for connecting your car to Elton.

If you choose to, Elton can read battery data and use it to provide smarter recommendations along the way.

### May 2021: Elton goes Nordic

One year after our first launch, Elton went live in Denmark, Sweden and Finland.

Suddenly, we were no longer just a Norwegian charging app, but a Nordic service.

### Spring 2022: Navigation and business solutions

We expanded Elton with in-app navigation and better support for live vehicle data.

At the same time, we launched solutions for businesses, making it possible to bring employees and charging across different networks together in one place.

### September 2022: The network keeps growing

With Circle K joining Recharge, Kople, Ragde, Ionity and others, Elton gained even better coverage across the Nordics.

The goal remained the same: make charging easier, regardless of who owns the charging station.

### May 2023: Elton becomes NAF’s charging app

Elton partnered with NAF.

Members received dedicated benefits when charging with Elton, and the partnership introduced the app to even more EV drivers.

### June 2023: 5,000 new charging points in Sweden

Vattenfall InCharge joined Elton with around 5,000 charging points.

That gave our coverage in Sweden a major boost.

### March 2024: Uno-X joins Elton

Uno-X became available in the app.

Charging points near places such as grocery stores made it even easier to fit charging into everyday life.

### June 2024: The Elton discount launches

We launched the Elton discount.

By charging with Elton, users could build up a discount that was automatically applied to future charging sessions.

### March 2025: More than 80% charging coverage

Tesla and Mer joined the app.

With both in place, Elton reached more than 80% charging coverage along the road in Norway and Sweden.

### March 2026 : Elton becomes part of Uno-X

Elton became part of Uno-X, but our mission remains the same: make EV charging as simple as possible.

Elton will still be Elton, and for people using the app, everyday life will largely stay the same.

For us, it means new opportunities, more talented people around us – and apparently having to learn a lot more about cycling.
